
Kathryn Brown
Reader in Art Histories, Markets and Digital Heritage at Loughborough University
Kathryn Brown is Principal Investigator on the AHRC Catalyst Project, ‘Modelling a Museum of AI Cultures’. Her books include Women Readers in French Painting 1870–1890 (2012), Matisse’s Poets (2017), ed. Digital Humanities and Art History (2020), Henri Matisse (2021), Dialogues with Degas (2023), Art Auctions: Spectacle and Value in the 21st Century (2024) and (ed.) Artificial Intelligence and Art History: Looking at Images in an Algorithmic Culture (2026). She has held visiting fellowships at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts (Washington DC), the Humanities Research Centre of the Australian National University, Tulane University, the Beinecke Library (Yale University), and the Getty Research Institute. Her research has been funded by the AHRC, the British Academy, the Independent Social Research Foundation, and the Terra Foundation for American Art. She is series editor of Contextualizing Art Markets for Bloomsbury Academic.

Haotian Dai
Doctoral Researcher in the Department of Physics at Loughborough University
Haotian’s research investigates behavioural strategies within smart active matter systems (of which the consisting active particles have individual intelligence), particularly focusing on emergent cooperation and competition between individuals, employing numerical simulation of Brownian dynamics and multi-agent reinforcement learning techniques. Haotian holds both an MSc and a BSc in Physics from Tongji University, Shanghai, China.

Mohammad Forghanielahabadi
Research Associate in Spatial Data Science at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, Loughborough University.
Mohammad is a Geospatial Data Scientist with expertise in GIS, spatial modelling, and geospatial analytics, and has worked across academia and industry on projects involving urban development and environmental monitoring. His research focuses on integrating AI with spatial modelling to understand and predict human movement. His experience includes programming, spatial data management, and developing decision-support systems for infrastructure planning.

Sergei Gepshtein
Director, Collaboratory for Adaptive Sensory Technologies, Salk Institute
Sergei is a neuroscientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California, and an adjunct professor at the School of Cinematic Arts of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He works in the areas of perceptual psychology, systems neuroscience and computational neuroscience. His research interests include perception of depth and movement, perceptual organization, planning of multistep actions, and dynamics of cortical neural networks. He is increasingly involved in research of the built environment and design of immersive media: as a founding member of the World Building Institute, member of the Freeman Design Leadership Council, and inaugural recipient of the Harold Hay Research Award from the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture.

Alison Kahn
Research and Innovation Associate at Loughborough University
Alison Kahn is a visual and design anthropologist and an art practitioner who works in the creative industries and in academia. She lectures and exhibits on the history of documentary filmmaking, AI and ‘digital’ children in education, and museum anthropology. She has pioneered cross-cultural techniques in ethnographic research: digitising early 20th century ethnographic archive films; designing digital learning systems and creating online archives and art exhibitions, connecting communities to their cultural heritage. She has won awards from the British Film Institute; Screen South; the Scatcherd Fellowship grant, an AHRC-funded eBook collaboration with the University of Oxford and National Lottery Funding for cultural heritage ethnography. She is an Associate in Research and Innovation at Loughborough University.

Asya Natapov
Senior Lecturer in Urban Planning and Design at the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering
Asya joined LU in 2020, having completed Marie Curie Fellowship at the UCL Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis. She is an architect by training and before her doctoral studies, she worked for several architectural firms in the USA specialising in developing concepts for large-scale urban projects. Her research lies at the intersection of urban planning and design, spatial cognition, and computation. She investigates the built environment as a complex system shaped by interrelationships between physical properties and cognitive processes.

Sergey Saveliev
Professor of Theoretical Physics at Loughborough University
Sergey’s current research focuses on developing novel AI hardware informed by both classical and quantum physics. He integrates traditional and cutting-edge AI techniques to predict new physical phenomena, advance our understanding of brain cognition and neural information processing, and model complex systems such as financial markets, human and animal behavior, and geophysical processes. Saveliev is a Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the American Physical Society. He is a recipient of prestigious awards including the Bessen Humboldt Award (Germany), the MEXT Scientist Prize (Japan), and fellowships from EPSRC (Advanced Research) and the Leverhulme Trust, multiple UKRI and EU grants, and supervised 15 PhD students. He has authored over 250 research articles, which have collectively garnered approximately 12,000 citations.
